In this video, Ross discusses the declining population in some communities and rapid growth in others due to economic decline or increase. This issue isn’t only valid for New Mexico, some states, or the US; it is a common challenge for communities and nations worldwide.
Heather discusses the reality of dealing with infrastructure systems that authorities built for way more people before than what you have now. This is a massive challenge for water utilities, said Heather. She said the population is shrinking, but the infrastructure won’t shrink as the population declines.
Ross and Heather also discussed financial sustainability in operating and maintaining water utilities.
