Video 7 – Future Implications Transportation
In this video, Ross discussed the “Future Implications – Transportation”, the 7th of 11 videos on “Infrastructure Management, Forecasting the Changes to 2030“
Ross mentioned funding shifts from NZTA happening in support of the ‘One Network’ approach, growth factors in upper North Island and Auckland.
He talked about how establishing road hierarchy based on the ‘One Network’ approach will create service levels with matching maintenance funding.
Quite interesting to watch and learn from this video is how a country like New Zealand will be coping with demographic changes in their road design and layout.
Ross presented a visionary outlook on urban and infrastructure management planning citing the following:
- Introducing the concept of ‘Scooter Zones’ and looking at the impacts of these zones on urban transportation
- Heavy transport growth
- Engineering resilience
- Managing transportation networks
- Need for scenario models
