On Monday the 14th of September 2015, Hildale, Utah was left in a state of shock and horror as a flash flood swept through and left two small communities in disbelief.
The flood has claimed the lives of 16 people (mostly women and children) from these small communities and has been titled “one of the worst weather-related disasters in the history of Utah.”
The two cities are populated mainly by families in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (not affiliated with mainstream Mormonism).
This event has left them devastated, but the communities are rallying together and supporting each other selflessly in this time of hardship.
St. George news reports:
“Emergency responders from Hildale, Colorado City, Hurricane, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue, Mohave County, and Apple Valley are involved in the search for the missing.
Many streets were heavily flooding and there is a lot of mud, sand, boulders, and debris on those streets. Multiple homes are without power and water due to infrastructure damage. Additional persons were rescued by emergency responders during the event.”
The team at Inframanage would like to offer much sympathy to all those caught up in this tragedy.
