IDS is the sole distributor of the Deighton dTIMS software in New Zealand.
The New Zealand dTIMS project has been a 16-year partnership between New Zealand public infrastructure engineers and Deighton to develop suitable optimised decision modeling for New Zealand public assets. Currently, IDS provides decision models for road and water utility assets.
Back in January 2014 Derek Roux, representing IDS and I caught up in Auckland at the University of Auckland School of Engineering laboratory to look at the Deighton Water Model. My thanks to University of Auckland for their assistance and cooperation.
The Deighton Water Model illustrates how the optimised decision model works, which is shown in the video above.
In the video, Derek explains the Deighton Water Model and then Derek and I discussed optimised decision-making.
The video provides a good basic introduction to infrastructure management optimised decision making. This video was first shown publicly at the the RIMS/IDS Conference, held in Christchurch March 26th/27th 2014.
This video is part of Inframanage’s video series on the tools public infrastructure managers use to undertake their work.
The New Zealand IDS dTIMS project has been a success story for optimised decision-making here in New Zealand. As an industry, we are achieving real gains in understanding and deployed management tactics as a result of the project.
