Heather Himmelberger, contributor to the Inframanage site, was appointed to the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Financial Advisory Board.
This board advises EPA and the EPA Administrator on issues related to financing environmental infrastructure and regulation, essentially, the “how to pay issues.”
Because asset management is a method of managing assets at the lowest life-cycle cost, it is a component of environmental finance.
Heather is able to bring this particular expertise to the Board, along with her work in Native American communities and small water and wastewater systems.
She participated in her first Board meeting as an official member (Heather previously served as an expert witness to the Board) on May 13 and 14, 2014 and is participating in two subcommittees.
The Board has produced many reports related to Environmental Finance. The reports, as well as a description of the Board, can be found at the following website: Environmental Financial Advisory Board (EFAB).
You can also read more about Heather on the UNM website: Southwest Environmental Finance Center.
Heather will provide future posts when reports or other work products are completed.
