Heather:
Thank you. And welcome everybody out there, listening to the webinar today. Just a real quick introduction for each of us.
Again, my name is Heather Himmelberger. I’m the director of the Southwest Environmental Finance Center here at the University of New Mexico.
And we’re coming to you today from Albuquerque. I’ve been doing asset management for over 15 years and have worked all over the country with all the different types of systems, doing training and implementation assistance in asset management.
And it’s something that I feel very passionate about, and I like to have the opportunity to help water and wastewater utilities with thinking about asset management and planning forward, implementing it, and that sort of thing.
Many years ago, Ross and I met at an asset management conference and really hit it off and love to geek out and talk about asset management. I’ve convinced him that Albuquerque is at the crossroads of America.
So, when he comes over, he stops by, and we have these opportunities to get together and do these webinars to answer questions about asset management.
So, we’re pleased to have Ross with us today, and I’m glad to share his expertise with you all out there because he’s a fantastic resource for asset management information.
So, Ross, why don’t you talk a little bit about your background?
Ross:
My background is municipal engineering. The opportunity came up to start consulting in New Zealand this September 20 years ago.
I’ve been doing asset management planning and strategic planning, asset management information system consulting in New Zealand, Australia, up in the Pacific Islands.
Last year, I worked doing some little work for a small bank in Sierra Leon, so just remotely, across the world.
And again, like Heather, a real passion for the subject and just helping communities manage their assets better with a more of a longer-term focused on sustainably providing the services.
And as Heather said, we met at the conference some years ago, and we’ve managed to catch up just about every year since. One way or another, that includes Heather going to New Zealand a few times.
I try to get to the US every year at a conference. So, we’ve kept this association as a collaboration going on since.
We do this infrastructure asset management webinar as part of this. It’s been a lot of fun.
