Heather:
Speaking of resources, let me show a couple of resources because somebody did ask, a couple of people asked about, what’s out there that you can look at to see what your utilities are doing.
American Water Works Association (AWWA)
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) has a whole asset management community. And if you want to be a part of that, you can check into that. They also have web pages and things.
But one I want to mention is this “Leading Business Practices in Asset Management” report that does have case studies of several utilities.
So, you can find that on the AWWA’s webpage and get information there about some particular case studies.
US Environmental Protection Agency
The EPA has information on asset management resources, and it’s straightforward to find, search EPA asset management.
Water Finance Clearinghouse
There’s also this Water Finance Clearinghouse that was set up for a slightly different purpose. It’s in the Water Infrastructure Resilience and Finance Center (WIRFIC).
So, the clearinghouse has a lot of resources, and you can sort through for reports and different things, and there’s an asset management filter that you can put on, so you can get some information that way.
Southwest Environmental Finance Center
The Southwest EFC site has a lot of different resources available for asset management. One of which is I’m showing here is the asset management IQ that allows you to ask/answer some basic questions about your utility, and you can track over time the improvements in your utility.
Inframanage.com
And the last one, but certainly not the least, is inframanage.com. It’s a website that Ross Waugh developed quite a few years ago that’s got some great information, blog, posts, all kinds of excellent stuff.
And I do some collaboration with Ross on this website. That’s a great place to go to find out what’s going on in all kinds of areas of asset management. May Ross want to say a little bit more about Inframanage?
Ross:
We are continuing to update and add more information all the time, so there’s an awful lot of free resources there that people can dive in and find.
Every time I come across an interesting report, or whatever, I’ll link it up on to there through a blog post. So, people are very welcome to have a look at that.
IPWEA at the conference, they just formed a standing asset management committee.
So again, I would expect that there would be publications and information coming from them in the next few years as well. So, it’s an industry-wide approach that’s happening—lots of resources around.
